Diretto da Meiert Avis e girato a Los Angeles, presso l'Orpheum Theater, è stato registrato tra il 14 e il 15 Novembre 2007.
Il Digital Versatile Doom contiene un cd e un dvd.
Per la prima volta, gli HIM rilasciano un cd di una intera performance live.
All'interno del dvd sono presenti: la live performance tratta dal Tour di Venus Doom, scene da dietro le quinte, filmati sul viaggio dei vincitori del contest HIM's biggest fan che a Seattle hanno avuto l'opportunità di conoscere la band, un'intervista a Ville Valo e dei fan videos.
Dal 1° Febbraio 2008 entrò in commercio una edizione limitata del DVD, 3500 copie per il mercato del Nord America e 500 per quello inglese. Questa versione contiene un 6" X 4" flipbook numerato a mano, con immagini tratte dalla live performance di Sleepwalking past hope.
La data di rilascio del Digital Versatile Doom era prevista per il 31 Marzo 2008 ma, in seguito a dei contrattempi mai svelati, l'uscita slittò al 29 Aprile 2008, e al 17 Maggio 2008 per i fans australiani.
