The Heartagram Path: I tuoi dipinti sono una specie di diario delle esperienze che hai vissuto. Esperienze che sono state molto intense. Quando osservi uno dei tuoi quadri meno recenti, ti suscitano le stesse sensazioni che provavi mentre lo dipingevi?

David Harouni: Quando osservo i miei vecchi lavori ci vedo riflesse le emozioni versate ini essi mentre dipingevo e voglio che chi osserva le mie opera reagisca a ciò.

The Heartagram Path: Il viaggio è una costante della tua vita. Hai vissuto in molti luoghi,ma qual è quello al quale sei piu legato? Quanto conta viaggiare per un artista?

David Harouni: Amo New Orleans, viaggiare è importante ma non per me. Non cerco l'ispirazione attraverso i viaggi.

The Heartagram Path: Quando dipingi, hai detto di raggiungere uno stato che tu chiami Mushin- dove il corpo risponde all'impulso senza pensare troppo a quello che fai. Sei tu a cercare nuovi stimoli per una nuova opera d'arte, o è l'ispirazione che trova te?

David Harouni: Dipingo per ispirare...non cerco l 'ispirazione da nessuna parte.

The Heartagram Path:Ci sono degli artisti che hanno influenzato il tuo modo di concepire l'arte? Se sì. in che modo?

David Harouni: Altri artisti mi hanno isegnato a guradare all'Arte come un modo per creare bellezza e infinite possibilità.

The Heartagram Path: Osservando la tua galleria,si può notare che il soggetto da te preferito sono dei volti,che spesso portano una corona. Come mai questa scelta?

David Harouni: Non do un titolo ai miei lavori...La corona non ha spiegazione è, semplicemente, "Arte".

The Heartagram Path: Hai mai provato ad esprimere la tua arte attraverso varie forme?Come mai hai scelto proprio la pittura?

David Harouni: Faccio anche sculture in bronzo e incidio ma la pittura è stata sempre la mia principale forma di espressione

The Heartagram Path: Molti di noi conosciamo la tua Venere per via di Venus Doom, il sesto album degli HIM. Che effetto ti ha fatto vedere un tuo quadro come copertina di un album?

David Harouni: E' molto bello sapere che il proprio quadro si relazione a della musica.

The Heartagram Path: Quando hai dipinto la Venere?

David Harouni: L'ho dipinta quattro anni fa.

The Heartagram Path: Com'è venuto in contatto con te Ville Valo? Cosa pensi di lui?

David Harouni: Credo che sia un ottimo cantante ma non l'ho mai incontrato di persona. Ha comprato il quadro quando non ero presente allo studio/galleria

The Heartagram Path: Ha sentito il  CD? Cosa pensa della musica degli HIM? Che genere di musica le piace?

David Harouni: Ho ascoltato il CD e mi piace moltissimo la canzone a cui il dipinto è associato, è perfetta!

The Heartagram Path: Your paintings are sort of your own diary about your life and experiences which have been very profound. When you look at one of your oldest works, does it make you feel the same emotions that you felt while drawing it?

David Harouni: When I look at my old work I reflect my emotion of the moment onto them just like I want my viewers to react.

The Heartagram Path: Travelling is part of your life. You have lived in many places, but what's the one you love the most? How much is travelling important for an artist?

David Harouni: I love New rleans...traveling is important to some but not for me. I don't look for inspiration through travel.

The Heartagram Path: You've said that, when you paint you achieve a status called Mushin - where your body answers the impulse whithout thinking about what you're doing.  Are you looking for inspiration or is the inspiration that hits you?

David Harouni: I paint to inspire...not looking for inspiration in anything.

The Heartagram Path: Are there some artists which have influenced your way of looking at art? If yes, in which way?

David Harouni: Other artists have made me look at art as creating beauty and endless possibilities.

The Heartagram Path: Looking at your gallery, we can see that your favourite subjects are faces, moslty wearing a crown. Why them?

David Harouni: I don't title my work... the crown has no explanation,  it's just "ART".

The Heartagram Path: Have you aver tried to express your art throught other forms of art? Why did you choose the painting above all?

David Harouni: I also sculpt in bronze and etch but painting has always been the first and foremost .

The Heartagram Path: Most of us knows your Venus because of Venus Doom, HIM's sixth studio album. How did you feel knowing that one of your paintings was the CD cover of a worldwide rock band such as HIM?

David Harouni: It's exciting to know that it can also relate to music.

The Heartagram Path: When did you paint the Venus?

David Harouni: I painted it 4 years ago.

The Heartagram Path: How did Ville Vamo manage to get in contact with you and your works? What do you think about him as a singer?

David Harouni: I think he's a great singer but we never met. He purchased it in my absence at my studio/gallery.

The Heartagram Path: Have you aver listened to the CD? What do you think about HIM music? What kind of music do you like to listen to?

David Harouni: I have listened to the music and love the song for the painting. Perfect.
